About Jodi

Hi, I’m Jodi a multi-passionate creative who writes from country Victoria Australia, on the traditional lands of the Bpangerang and Yorta Yora people.

I write feel-good stories that blend heart, humour, mystery, and romance. Stories that you make you want to curl up on the couch and forget about the real world, even if only for a short time.

With small town settings from Australia, Italy, the USA, and England, my novels invite readers to escape to places rich with character, community, and hidden secrets. At the centre there’s always a resilient woman intent on finding her place in the world, and opening herself to a second chance at love with a flawed but good-hearted hero.

If you love a story where the setting is as important as the characters, the story makes you laugh, cry and everything in between, and the characters feel like friends you’d love to have a cuppa with, then you’re in the right place.

When I’m not writing fiction, I’m still writing. You’ll find me on my Substack called Little Earthquakes. There I write weekly essays about the ideas, books, experiences and everyday things that make me stop, think, question, consider and maybe even reconsider.

I’m also host of the Ask The Author podcast which you’ll find on your favourite podcast app. With three seasons under my belt you’ll find short, sharp episodes full of writing advice. Season 3 is solely dedicated to interviews with authors who share their journey and things they’ve learned along the way (and are still learning!)

When I’m not playing with words, I’ll be reading them. Most likely cheating on my romance novel with the latest psychological thriller. I also love baking, Pilates, running, early morning walks for coffee with my own real-life hero and our two dogs Banjo and Florence, and cuddles with my demanding but very cuddly Ragdoll cat Sonny.

In a plot-twist I’m also studying to be a massage therapist!

I am sometimes on Instagram where I try not to be a slave to the algorithm, just my own flow. @jfgibsonwriter

A bit more…

  • I want you to suspend disbelief when you read my novels.

Although I like to keep things realistic, I love the freedom of playing with characters and situations and bending them to make things happen. Wouldn’t we all love the chance to do that in our real lives? Well, I’m lucky I get to do that through my books. It’s loads of fun! So, I hope that when you read my books, you are so wrapped up in the story that minor details that perhaps don’t make perfect sense in the real world, can be overlooked. Because that’s the wonder of fiction.

  • My debut novel, a contemporary drama titled The Memories We Hide was published in 2019.

  • The Five Year Plan a feel-good women’s fiction/romance novel was published by Brio Books in September 2021 and was shortlisted in Booktopia’s Favourite Australian Books awards of 2021.

  • Reinventing Emily Brown a feel-good women’s-fiction/romance was published in September 2023.

  • In 2024, I was part of a romcom Christmas anthology - 12 Tropes of Christmas which was runners up in the Australian Romance Readers Association book awards of 2024 in the Favourite Anthology Category! That short story is now published as a Novella titled Under The Mistletoe.

  • My next novel is a romance set in a bookshop in a quintessential English village and will be the first in the series. It will be published, all going well, in 2027.

  • I am multipassionate (aka a scanner, multipotentialite, multipod or generalist) which simply means I have many passions and find it hard to stay in one lane. Discovering this about myself in 2025 was a game-changer.

  • Curiosity and creativity are my soul foods.

  • Words are my love language.
